Winter wedding at Arrowhead Hill with all of the classic and refined details
Reagan + James | January 2022
Reagan & James tied the knot on a beautifully-mild January day in Montgomery, TX. Classic and refined in nature, with feminine touches throughout, Reagan wanted her day to feel romantic and warm, and reflective of the season without being “winter” themed. After all, there isn’t really such a thing in Texas!
With the wedding venue topping the list of priorities for this couple, we knew that Arrowhead Hill would be the perfect backdrop for their wedding day. This venue gives new meaning to “barn venue” — blending modern farmhouse with clean lines, gorgeous finishes and fixtures, and well thought out spaces. It can host a variety of aesthetics and color palettes, without being too plain or bland as a backdrop. On its own, the venue is stunning. It sits on a lush, spacious property with rolling hills, large oak trees, and even a few ponds to look out over. Then add in the picturesque white chapel, which is complete with a wedding bell for the couple to ring once they are officially one (one of my favorite things that makes this venue unique!) For cocktail hour, the sailcloth tent (that is up year round!) perfectly defines and elevates the space and guest experience. It makes for comfortable outdoor cocktail hours in the summertime, and keeps guests entertained between the outdoor bar, gorgeous views, and any seating or decor you incorporate into this space. Then head into “The Gathering” reception barn, which is plenty large to accommodate weddings over 300 in attendance, but laid out to make gatherings of 75 or less feel intimate and warm, yet not empty. And lastly the onsite accommodations provide the wedding party, families, and friends with a cozy cottage stay and the perfect place to take the after party once the night is done. It’s easy to see why Arrowhead Hill has become one of greater Houston’s favorite venues.
When asked about her favorite memories from the day, Reagan said, “my favorite memory from our wedding day was our first look! It was such an intimate, surreal moment. We both felt a flood of emotions, and I will always treasure those few minutes we spent together before becoming husband and wife.” This is the number one reason why I recommend doing a first look! Yes, it opens up your photography timeline and allows for things to feel more relaxed and not all crammed into cocktail hour. But even more importantly, it may be some of the only time on your wedding day that is shared between just the two of you! I love that Reagan & James also used it as an opportunity to exchange vows privately — no cameras, no mics, just a moment that is completely, and only their own!
And when asked about what her experience would have been like without a coordinator, Reagan had these kind words to say — “If I didn’t have Lexie to guide me through the design and coordination of a wedding, I would not have been able to be so relaxed on my wedding day. I put all of my trust in her, and she went above and beyond in every way. She even brought Topo Chico’s to ensure we were able to enjoy our drink of choice!” (**I knew Ranch Water was Reagan’s go-to, which her bar didn’t automatically stock, so you best believe I brought a case of Topo Chico to the wedding!)
