Romantic Summer wedding full of personal touches
Shelby + Kevin | July 2022
Shelby & Kevin’s wedding day at Arrowhead Hill was truly what dreams are made of! I worked closely with Shelby in the year leading up to the big day, and throughout the process there was always an emphasis on simple and timeless elegance, as well as on the details and decisions that were reflective of her and Kevin. They didn’t say ‘yes’ to having everything that could possibly make up a wedding day. Instead, they were intentional with their choices, which in turn allowed those special details to take center stage. As a result, their day was reflective of them — and their family and friends could feel it too!
It's no surprise that Arrowhead Hill was an easy choice when the Kubeckas were choosing their venue. With its simple elegance, gorgeous finishes, and intentional design, it perfectly complimented the romantic, elegant, sophisticated feel that Shelby was going for. From the beginning, Shelby and I were drawn to various pink shades, and especially in finishes and fabrics that provided more depth (take the bridesmaids dresses for example!)
One thing that did change from the beginning of the process to when we really dove into the design-related vendors was that Shelby originally envisioned a classic floral palette with more of an emphasis on ivory tones and some blush tones. Throughout the beginning stages of wedding planning, her mind was changed — and I love that! You can have one perception of how you want your wedding day to be going in, but once you allow yourself time to organically develop your wedding vision (and think outside the box from what you see on Pinterest and Instagram) you may gravitate towards different choices that feel more like you. It goes to show that you are allowed to change your mind throughout the process. And even if you have one vision at the beginning, I think there should always be a natural evolution of it — making the end result on your wedding day better than you could ever formulate on paper.
Another thing I loved so much about Shelby & Kevin’s day were all the intentional details that they incorporated. Shelby is a sixth-grade teacher, so she prompted her students to write down their best marriage advice. We displayed their answers at cocktail hour, which was a hit for guests to read with a glass of bubbly in hand! Also at cocktail hour, guests could leave a message for the happy couple on a vintage phone, which they get to cherish now. Other favorite details include the venue illustration on their invitation suite, the cardinal pin fixed to the bridal bouquet to honor Shelby’s grandfather, and the memory table honoring beloved family members who had passed.

All in all, intention was at the heart of this wedding day. It was first and foremost focused on honoring the start of their marriage. But it also honored their friends and family with a celebration they won’t soon forget — and I certainly won’t either!
