The dreamiest pastel palette for this ‘The Homestead’ couple

Everything about designing this wedding was a breath of fresh air! When Sarah came to me and said she had booked The Homestead wedding venue in Willis, TX (which was brand new at the time — they hadn’t even hosted their first wedding yet!) AND that she wanted to embrace a colorful palette, I was really excited to help conceptualize this vision.

The Homestead venue is a bold, contemporary space but is also one that isn’t so ‘blank’ that it feels cold. The black exterior makes a statement from the moment you drive up. I love that they’ve built the venue with a multi-use feel in mind, meaning that the spaces aren’t defined by having a designated Chapel and Reception Hall. Instead, the outdoor terrace, indoor multi-use space, sprawling lobby, and large hall (typically where you’d opt to host your reception) allow for the venue to mold to your guest count needs and design vision. Other favorite design features of this venue include the wall of windows in the reception space, the fully furnished lobby (which is full of eclectic character and bold color) as well as the chic and comfortable getting ready suites (which are also full of character and bold design.)

When it came to Sarah’s vision for her colorful day, she didn’t want it to feel too pastel or too reminiscent of Easter (since she was getting married at about the same time!) Instead, we leaned into the Texas sunset color palette, balancing pink and coral colors with purples and golden yellows. Of course, this color palette was embraced through the florals. Her full floral arch in the ceremony space was one of my favorite floral moments, as were the meadow pieces that were used both inside and out. But we also heavily executed the color palette by using specialty linens. Linens are maybe my favorite way to elevate a wedding design. I won’t go on a full tangent here and will instead leave that for a full blog post, but I will say — quality matters, as does fabric choice. For Sarah, we incorporated a lovely lilac iridescent linen (one of my favorite details of the day!) that added to the design overall. We also embraced velvet linens and coral tones between the cocktail hour space, napkins on the tables, and the welcome table. Imagine if we would’ve opted for a neutral, flat linen. It would have lent a very different feel to the florals and would not have achieved the contemporary, bold, and colorful vibe that Sarah was hoping for. Beyond the linens, the paper goods and place settings embraced contemporary shapes and high-contrast elements (especially in the paper goods) which complimented the bold, contemporary vibe of the venue.

It is really fun when couples are willing to think outside the box, embrace color, AND trust you to come up with something unique to them. Even better when you get to come into a new space with fresh eyes and dream something up that has yet to be done. This wedding brought all of that energy, and it was an honor to be a part of it!
